Library Services

Nicholson has an attractive and functional library with an up-to-date collection for students' use and enjoyment. The library welcomes students both before and after classes and throughout the school day for homework, study, research, or to access the computer network. Library staff and classroom teachers work together to provide the students with frequent opportunities during class time to develop valuable research strategies and essay writing skills. The library has set aside a special area in the Library called the Writing Centre where students can seek assistance in essay preparation. Students can sit at the desks in the centre and edit their work while they access computers, handouts, and brochures on the writing process.

Available to our students are over 15,000 books, a large reference section, a vertical file and numerous periodicals. The printed collection is enhanced by a computer lab for student use. Nicholson subscribes to a number of online databases for student research purposes. Students can access these databases in the school library as well as from home via the Nicholson home page.
